St. Gregory’s Catholic School is celebrating as the school was rated as ‘Outstanding’ in all four categories following its Ofsted inspection on 15th & 16th October 2013. Inspectors noted that ‘Attainment is outstanding because students make excellent progress.’ Teaching was rated outstanding with inspectors commenting, ‘Teaching is outstanding with examples of exemplary practice in all subject areas and in all year groups. Students learn extremely well because enthusiastic teachers give them stimulating tasks, well-structured paths towards understanding and clear guidance on how to improve their work.’ Inspectors also thought that students’ behaviour was ‘outstanding in lessons and around the school’ and that the ‘happy and harmonious atmosphere around the school reflects how well all staff promote students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.’

This is a highly significant achievement. Sir Michael Wilshaw, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools, has openly acknowledged that the bar for inspections has been raised this academic year and this judgement currently makes St. Gregory’s one of the few schools in West Kent to have been judged as ‘Outstanding’ under the new inspection framework.

Please follow the link to read the full Ofsted report. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for their support of the school and those who completed the Parental Ofsted questionnaire.

Yours sincerely,

Mr S Adamson (Head Teacher)
