Impressive exam results for St Gregory’s students
St Gregory’s Sixth Form are celebrating impressive results after the disruption of the pandemic.
This year’s candidates are the first to sit exams since 2019 and one fifth of students have achieved A*-A grades at A Level. Over half the grades achieved are A*-B and nine in ten students gained A*-C grades.
A wide range of subjects performed particularly well including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Statistics, the three Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), French, Spanish, Polish, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Art, Photography, Business Studies, Finance, Computer Studies, Psychology, Criminology, Film Studies and Physical Education.
For BTEC qualifications, the overall pass rate is 100%, with two fifths achieving Distinction grades and nine in ten achieving Merit or above.
One in ten students received AAB or above at A Level with top performers individually gaining A-A* across the board.
The majority of students are happy to have secured their first-choice place at university including the Russell group, in apprenticeship or in employment.
Sean McQuillan, Academy Principal said, “I am delighted with these results for our students, sitting their first set of public examinations having missed out at GCSE two years ago. Parents and teachers know it has been an anxious time for all. Nevertheless, our students remained committed to their studies and worked with fortitude supported, of course, by excellent teaching. We have a collective pride in the outcomes for our Sixth Form students and I wish them every success for their futures."
Angela Morrissey, Head of Sixth Form said, “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and determination of our Year 13 students, this has paid off in their results and I wish them the best of success in their next steps. Well done."
