Karl Nova - Rapper
As part of our Multi-Cultural Week, on Wednesday 13 July, St Gregory’s welcomed author and rapper Karl Nova in to school.
Karl Nova is one of the UK's leading poets and hip hop artists who delivers his work in schools to inspire students about poetry, reading, writing and books and to develop their skills and enthusiasm.
Delivering his work in his own inspirational, witty and energetic style, Karl performed to all year groups throughout the morning. Born and raised in London, as well as Lagos, Karl always found it difficult to fit in as a child. This is reflected in his music which illustrates what it is like to be on the margins in a world where conformity seems to be the key in gaining acceptance.
Always keen to be one to defy expectations and go against the grain, Karl has also recently won the CLiPPA 2018 Award and one of the UK’s most prestigious literary awards, The Ruth Rendell Award 2020.
After his performances Karl held book signings for students. If any further students would like a signed copy of one of Karl’s books, they can be ordered directly from Karl via this link: http://www.karlnovaworld.com
